All students at Collingwood Park State School have weekly
music lessons from a specialist music teacher. The classroom music curriculum
is designed to steadily develop students’ musical knowledge and skills from
Prep to Year 6. During lessons, students sing, play instruments, compose and
improvise, perform in groups and individually, critically listen to songs,
learn theory and analysis, and respond to their own music and music of others.
Instruments in the music classroom include keyboards, ukuleles, djembes, Sound
Scape drums, tambourines, triangles, claves and Boomwhackers.
Students can also choose to participate in extension
music activities at the school, either by joining one of the choirs and/or by
learning a band instrument through the Instrumental Music program.
